Company Accounting
Accounting for a Portuguese company starts at €150 per month at HVR and covers everything the law requires: bookkeeping, VAT and corporate income tax (IRC) filings, the Modelo 22 return, the annual IES, payroll and SAF-T submission. The accountant who signs your accounts is Hugo Ribeiro, registered with the Portuguese Order of Certified Accountants under number 64356.
What is included
- General accounting: bookkeeping entries, bank reconciliations and the preparation of the financial statements.
- Analytical accounting: costs and results by cost centre, project or department, so you can see where the company makes and loses money.
- Payroll: payslips, IRS withholding and Social Security contributions, 11% for the employee and 23.75% for the employer (art. 53 of the Contributory Code).
- Tax returns: VAT, corporate tax (Modelo 22), IES, withholding tax and the other returns the company is required to file.
- Financial reports: monthly, quarterly and annual reports with the indicators that matter for decisions.
- Tax compliance: deadlines tracked and met, avoiding fines and interest.

Who keeps and signs your accounts
Every company must keep organised accounting (art. 123 of the Corporate Tax Code), and the profession that keeps it and signs the tax returns is regulated by the Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados, whose Statute was approved by Law 139/2015. What is SAF-T and when must it be submitted?
The invoicing SAF-T is the file through which a company reports its invoices to the Tax Authority. It must be submitted by the 5th of the month after the invoices were issued (art. 3 of Decree-Law 198/2012). HVR handles it in every package.
